Who We Are
Urban Praise exists to transform lives by connecting people from all backgrounds to the heart of Jesus Christ through urban music. We desire to nurture a generation of Christ-centered people to live a bold and courageous life in the freedom of God’s love. We believe Jesus has a purpose for everyone and desires his children to explore the giftings He has blessed them with.
How We Got Here
Urban Praise is a Music Ministry birthed out of a Relief Concert held in October 2005 to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Following the overwhelming response from those who attended, so began the ministry of Urban Praise.
Under the leadership of Jerome and Jenny Phillips, the Urban Praise Ministry has grown and now consists of an 8 piece band, a Senior Choir and a Junior Choir for teens aged 12 – 18.
What is unique to Urban Praise is the people involved in the Ministry itself – people from many Cultures and Churches across Melbourne are members, in turn giving Urban Praise its own Style of Gospel Music.
As well as showcasing some of the Music Industry’s greats such as Marvin Sapp, Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond, Urban Praise is nurturing it’sown talent within the Ministry to produce original works as well.
Every second month Urban Praise hosts the “Main Event” – a Gospel Music Night on the last Saturday of February, April, June, August and October each year at – Monash Christian Church in Mulgrave, Melbourne.
Urban Praise also takes part in External Events by Invitation, ranging from Private Functions to Charity Concerts.
